[A225] AEG D.I German Fighter 1917
Description
The AEG D.I was biplane fighter of Word War I.
The prototype of the plane was unusual in that the airframe was built totally of steel tubing, including the wings spars and ribs. Three prototypes were ordered, but after the first two were involved in serious crashes, one of which killed flying ace Walter Hohndorf on 5 September 1917, development was cancelled.
The second and third prototypes differed little from the first except in detail.
